Maryland WLax Raises $15.5K for JDRF

COLLEGE PARK, Md. In its second season supporting diabetes awareness, Maryland raised $15,537.48 to support JDRF and the fight against diabetes.

"The amount of support that the team and JDRF have received for this campaign has been amazing," head coach Cathy Reese said. "We're so thankful to everyone who donated and came out to support the Terps for this cause."

The Terps wore blue warmups and socks at their Diabetes Awareness Game against James Madison on March 26. Replicas of the shirt were sold and a silent auction was held during the game. The campaign continued for the week after the game online.

In Maryland's first season supporting JDRF last year, the Terps raised more than $12,000.

Reese's son, Riley, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes four years ago at 7 years old.
