Ohio Grounds Bayhawks; Launch Sink Lizards

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland - The Ohio Machine take the W in Chesapeake, dominating the Bayhawks in an 18-11 win on Friday. Kyle Bernlohr held strong in the net for the Machine saving 20 of the 30 shots on goal. Bernlohr now leads goaltenders in the MLL with only 7.49 goals against average and a 69 save percentage. The faceless men held true to their No. 1 status, holding the No. 1 offense in the country to just 11 goals. Tom Schreiber proved once again that he is a dominate force for the offense, snagging a team-high seven points off two goals and five assists.

In the First Half

The Ohio Machine started off the evening with a snipe from Kevin Cunningham at 12:48 in the first quarter to give Ohio the 1-0 advantage. The Bayhawks would quickly return with a snag from the top at 11:23 in the first quarter. Jackson Place would then tally his first goal of 2017 with low snipe at 9:40 in the first quarter to give Ohio the 2-1 advantage. The Machine would then go on a two-goal rally with goals by Tom Schreiber (6:35 in the first quarter) and Marcus Holman (5:56 in the first quarter) to give Ohio the 4-2 advantage. Chesapeake would fight their way back with a snipe at 1:26 in the first quarter to make it a one-goal game. In the second quarter, the offense would continue to shine with the Ohio scoring two more back-to-back goals with snipes from Peter Baum (12:57 in the second quarter) and Jake Bernhardt (11:46 in the second quarter). The Bayhawks would make it a one-goal game after snagging a 2pt goal at 6:28 in the second quarter, making it a 6-6 game. Ohio would quickly return with three goals in a row. Mark Cockerton got the ball rolling early with a tally at 5:11 in the second quarter, then it would be Kevin Cunningham lighting the lamp at 4:21 in the second quarter and then the one and only Peter Baum would snipe the net with 2:00 minutes left to end the first half 9-6 Ohio.

In the Third

In the third quarter, Ohio would continue to dominate the Bayhawks. Chesapeake got the first snipe at 10:39 in the third before Mike Birney would make a fast break and snipe the net at 9:45 in the third quarter to make it a 10-7 Ohio advantage. Jake Bernhardt would snag his second of the evening at 8:17 in the third to make it an 11-7 game. Ohio would get a tally from Marcus Holman on the man-up at 6:04 in the third, Ohio would gain the 12-7 advantage. Holman would once again light the lamp at 5:20 in the third making it 13-7 Ohio. Bayhawks would snag a tally at 3:28 to bring the score to 13-8 Ohio. But Kevin Cunningham would take that advantage away, with his snipe at 2:25 left in the third, ending the quarter with a 14-8 Ohio lead.

In the Fourth

Ohio would continue their offensive momentum after the Bayhawks would begin the scoring at 13:02 in the fourth quarter to make it a 14-9. Tom Schreiber would start the fourth off for the Machine with a snag at 10:34 to make it a 15-9 Ohio advantage. The Bayhawks would score back-to-back to attempt to catch the Machine, but Ohio continued to dominate as Kevin Cunningham would snag another one tally at 3:30 to make it 16-11 Ohio. Marcus Holman with another tally at 2:03 would make it a six-goal deficit for Chesapeake. Mark Cockerton would snipe the game-winning goal at 1:27 left in the fourth to make the final Ohio 18 Chesapeake 11.
