Liberty Welcomes 10 Players in 2018-2019 Lacrosse Class

LYNCHBURG, Va. The Liberty women's lacrosse program has announced the addition of 10 student-athletes for the 2018-19 season. The recruiting class Maggie Anderson, Andrea Colavito, Anna DiRita, Alexa Evernham, Hope Flack, Emma Kendrick, Morgan Learn, Meg Lieberman, Leah Ruby and Jennifer Soriero come from six states, including three from Pennsylvania, two each from New Jersey and Georgia, and one each from Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina.

"I am very excited to add these 10 young women to our program," stated Liberty women's lacrosse head coach Kelly Nangle. "They are exceptional athletes and even better people. They will be an integral part in the growth of our program."

Maggie Anderson (A/M Davidsonville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School)
Anderson, a native of Davidsonville, Md., will be coming to Liberty from Annapolis Area Christian School. In her three years with the Annapolis Eagles, Anderson has compiled 55 goals, 42 assists, 79 ground balls and 94 draw controls. As a junior, she put together her best season yet with 30 goals, 17 assists, 35 ground balls and 50 draw controls.

"From the moment I stepped on campus, I knew it was home. I am beyond excited to be starting this new chapter of my life at Liberty," Anderson stated.

Anderson, an attacker/midfielder, is a two-time all-conference selection (2016-2017) and an all-county honoree (2017) who was named a team captain during her junior season. During her sophomore year, her team went 16-0 and won a championship as well as the Team of the Year award from Touchdown Club in Annapolis. The attacker/midfielder, who chose Liberty over Mount St. Mary's, says her most memorable moment was winning the lacrosse championship in the rain as a sophomore.

"It was my honor to have coached Maggie Anderson for the 2017 women's high school lacrosse season at Annapolis Area Christian School. Throughout our season, her leadership role as a captain was exemplified through her skills, discipline and willingness to lead by example in every aspect of the game. Maggie's tenacity and drive was evident on the field of play. I can say that she is a young woman of integrity, probity and passion."

Andrea Colavito (M Johns Creek, Ga./Johns Creek)
Colavito is one of two Johns Creek, Ga. natives to join the Liberty lacrosse program. The midfielder has compiled 67 goals, 74 assists and 126 ground balls in her three years with the Johns Creek Cardinals. Colavito was a varsity captain as a sophomore in 2016 and earned honorable mention all-state as a junior.

Colavito has accumulated other accolades, including: Offensive Player of the Year as a junior, scholar-athlete as a sophomore and junior and selection to the region all-star team as a junior.

Colavito, who was also considering attending UConn, James Madison and Furman, has guided her high school team to the second round of the region playoffs in each of the last two seasons. She also has played club lacrosse from Eagle Stix from 2015-17.

Anna DeRita (M/A Drexel Hill, Pa./ Cardinal O'Hara)
DeRita joins the Lady Flames from Drexel Hill, Pa., a suburb just outside of Philadelphia. During her three years at Cardinal O'Hara High School, DeRita has tallied 73 goals and 24 assists. As a junior, she served as a team captain, leading her team to a District 12 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) 2A title. She earned All-Catholic and All-Delco honorable mention accolades while tallying 38 goals, 13 assists and 68 draw controls.
