Merrimack Signs Nine Lacrosse Recruits in NLI Early Period

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Merrimack College women's lacrosse team and head coach Julie Duffy have announced the addition of nine future Warriors to the program during the National Letter of Intent (NLI) earning signing period earlier this month.

The nine incoming Warriors are a varied group that hail from five different states, as well as one from Canada. They all are slated to graduate in the spring of 2018 and are entering their final seasons of high school competition. The versatile group includes five defenders, two midfielders and two attacks, although a number of them play multiple positions on the field. The group has garnered a number of individual accolades, as well, and should make an immediate impact on the women's lacrosse program at Merrimack.

"Over the past year, our coaching staff has been able to identify all of the key characteristics that we are looking for when recruiting student-athletes that are ideal for our program, and we believe these nine future Warriors embody every trait that we are looking for," Duffy said. "Every one of these student-athletes comes from some of the top club and high school programs on the east coast and they are eager to help continue our vision for building Merrimack into one of the top Division II programs in the country. We're excited for their arrival next fall."

Sophia will bring new light to our midfield transition game and has the potential to be a defender's worst nightmare when trying to get the ball through the midfield while boasting great speed to help us in our transition game. She will also pair nicely with other attackers in this class and on our current roster to give our offense even more depth."
