Marist Names Two Juniors as 2018 Lacrosse Team Captains

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist men's lacrosse has named Brian Corrigan and Nick Ney as captains for the 2018 season.

"Brian and Nick have demonstrated tremendous leadership since arriving on campus and have grown tremendously as redshirt junior. We are excited to see them grow in their final season," said head coach Keegan Wilkinson said. "They're both outstanding young men and their success is a testament to their hard work and dedication to the program. Our staff knows they will do a fantastic job as captains."

Corrigan and Nye lead an elite Marist defense that finished third in the country in goals allowed last season. Both are third-year starters.

Corrigan enters the 2018 season as one of the top Goalkeepers in the country. In the past two seasons, he has finished top ten in save percentages, saves per game and goals against average. He was All-MAAC First Team in 2017 and ALL-ECAC Second, MAAC Defensive player of the year in 2016. Over the course of his career, Corrigan has earned nine defensive player of the week honors.

Nye helped lead a defense that finished 14th nationally in man down defense. In 46 games played, Nye has collected 80 groundballs and amassed 22 caused turnovers. He had a season high two caused turnovers in the MAAC Championship game vs Monmouth last season.

Marist finished last season 10-6, and reached the MAAC championship game for the fourth straight year. The Red Foxes open their season at Bucknell on February 3.
