Four Named as Mount St. Mary's Lacrosse Team Captains

Emmitsburg, Md. (December 13, 2017) C.J. Ciserano, Jack Mangan, Mike Pascali, and Kevin Verkler have been named team captains for the 2018 Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse team, head coach Tom Gravante announced on Wednesday.

"I believe great team captains lead players physically and through commitment, compassion and accountability to team efforts on and off the field," commented Gravante. "These young men are great examples of the aforementioned leadership characteristics, and it was no surprise to my staff and I when calculating the team votes that these four were chosen by their teammates. We are looking forward to working with the team captains in supporting their efforts for an exciting 2018 season."

Ciserano, a senior from Happauge, N.Y., has played in 28 games over his first three seasons with the Mountaineers, including eight during the 2017 campaign. Ciserano picked up an assist in the Mount's near-victory against Georgetown last season.

Mangan was named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team as a sophomore last season, following up on his All-Rookie Team selection in 2016. The Bayville, N.Y. native has registered 37 points on 20 goals and 17 assists while playing in all 28 games through his first two seasons with the Mountaineers. Last season, Mangan finished with 13 goals and 11 assists, while ranking first on the team in ground balls (49) and third in caused turnovers (9).

Pascali, a team captain for the second straight year, has played in 48 career games as a Mountaineer and posted 23 points on 13 goals and 10 assists. The Plymouth Meeting, Pa. native, who tallied a career-high eight goals and six assists back in 2014, was a key part of the Mount's midfield last season before suffering a season-ending injury.

Verkler, also a captain for the second straight season, has helped anchor the Mount's defensive unit throughout his career, playing in 36 career games with the Mountaineers and racking up 35 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers. The Libertyville, Ill. native ranked second on the team in caused turnovers (11) and fifth in ground balls (24) during the 2017 campaign.
