Pollsters' Comments About Teams They Ranked

Syracuse: So they get the #1 seed, but will they make it to championship weekend? (arealax) — Cruisers still #1 in my book but #2 for the seeding committee. (Baldo) — #1. (Henfan) — The team to beat? Overall the most balanced ... this is the year of "possession" and Williams has been DA MAN. (jhu7276) — #1. Deserved the #1 seed but #2 seed is more favorable for the quarterfinals in Annapolis. My NC favorite if they can defeat Bryant or Marist. Perfect score on the LaxPower computer rankings: all 1s! (laxfan1313) — Hard-fought road win at Colgate keeps the Orange at #1. Open NCAA play at home against winner of Bryant/Marist game. (Lax Fidelis) — #1. Prevailed over Colgate. (maddog9718) — RR#1. (randyrad) — Barely by Gate, but a clear #1. (Strannywastheman)

Notre Dame: They seem to be the most complete team ... Now let's see if they can pull out the championship. (arealax) — Irish are the top seed. Is this the year the Domers break through with a title? Tough road goes through Denver a mile up. (Baldo) — #3. Not sure why they're #1. They'll have time to prove it. (Henfan) — Darn good team ... right there and have had many final 4 disappointments ... will they break through this year? (jhu7276) — #2. #1 seed in the tourney. #2 SOS and RPI. (laxfan1313) — #3 Fighting Irish took no prisoners in their 17-8 rout of host Army. #1 seed by NCAA plays winner of Towson/High Point, game in South Bend. (Lax Fidelis) — #2. No problems with Army. (maddog9718) — RR#2. (randyrad) — #4 With ease over Army. #3 or 4 seed? (Strannywastheman)

North Carolina: They have had the parts for a few years but have not pulled out the win at crunch time. (arealax) — Heels about to embark on another quest for a title with a high seed - will this be the year? (Baldo) — #5. Time to do something in the tourney. (Henfan) — "Out of staters" at their usual crossroads ... if they do not at least make the final 4, this is another "epic fail" year. (jhu7276) — #3. Will this be the year for the #3 seeded Tar Heels? (laxfan1313) — No game this week. #4. Tar Heels open NCAA play at home against Colgate, which played Syracuse very tough last Saturday before losing 9-7. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#3. (randyrad) — #3 Should make it to Philly. (Strannywastheman)

Denver: Has been getting the job done. Will they get back to championship weekend? (arealax) — Pios are Big East champs. Are they tournament tested? Helps that they will play at altitude until the Final Four. (Baldo) — #2. (Henfan) — Just how good are they? Their freshman face-off man BETTER get their offense possessions ... if he is hot, they could go deep. (jhu7276) — #5. Great incentive to host the quarterfinals with a victory over tough Brown. (laxfan1313) — #2 Pioneers had little trouble in the Big East tournament; scoring 16 in each game while allowing 9 and 8 to Villanova and Georgetown respectively. Play Brown at home to open NCAA play. (Lax Fidelis) — #5. Still cruising. (maddog9718) — RR#4. (randyrad) — #5 Blew out Nova, Hoyas. Not sure they make it East, but home quarters help. (Strannywastheman)

Duke: Duke looks to be on the same run it has for the last two years. Can they pull out the 3-peat? (arealax) — Dukies getting hot at the right time per usual. (Baldo) — #4. Could see this team win it all. (Henfan) — Omg ... Duke back again ... if Myles gets his bull dodges going, opponents are going to be in trouble. (jhu7276) — #4. I rank them above Denver: better SOS and RPI. (laxfan1313) — Blue Devils coasted past the visitors from BU. 13-7. Ohio State visits Durham in NCAA tilt; Buckeyes better bring a lot more to the table than they showed Saturday night against Hopkins. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#5. (randyrad) — #2 BU? Why? (Strannywastheman)

Albany: Danes need to find some defense and goal tending, otherwise it will be an early exit. (Baldo) — #6. Beat Cornell and earn the ranking. (Henfan) — Lyle show rolls on ... if they run into a good face-off team, these guys may be trouble ... now the going gets tougher ... Lyle will get his points, but someone else needs to step up. (jhu7276) — #7. Their 37 SOS makes me wonder about the AE champs, although they just had no trouble with #21 Stony Brook. Can Cornell slow down the Danes? (laxfan1313) — #6 Great Danes blitzed Stony Brook in AE final, registering 22 tallies. Regular season re-match as UA travels to Ithaca to play Big Red. (Lax Fidelis) — #6. Another week of big margin victories. (maddog9718) — RR#9. (randyrad) — #7 Blew out Hartford. Lyle show will host as NCAA slurps the story. Will SOS catch up with Danes? (Strannywastheman)

Maryland: Can they get back on the winning way? (arealax) — THUD of the week. Terps crashed and burned in the B1G semis at home no less. They have to regroup and get refocused. Tall order. (Baldo) — #9. Loosen up the reins, Tillman. (Henfan) — Testudo ended the regular season with a whimper ... can he make a playoff run? Terps need to soul search and get their mojo back. (jhu7276) — #8. What happened to that 5 goals/game defense? Rematch against Ivy AQ Yale (to whom they lost earlier this season) this week at Byrd. (laxfan1313) — Second straight loss at home left Terrapins short of B1G tourney final on their home field. #7. Another regular season replay when Maryland hosts Yale, which beat them earlier this year. (Lax Fidelis) — #10. Didn't find its groove against OSU. (maddog9718) — RR#6. (randyrad) — #8 Bucks held off the Terps this time. MD leaking oil; should lose a home game but won't. (Strannywastheman)

Virginia: Lucky they play in the ACC. (arealax) — Hoos will make the dance but likely won't perform for long. (Baldo) — #7. (Henfan) — Another crew with holes, and they will have to play fantastically to make a run if they get into the playoffs. (jhu7276) — #6. Hosting the Blue Jays in one of the best first round match-ups. (laxfan1313) — No game this week. #8. Second straight year that the Blue Jays travel to Hooville for NCAA game. 2014 saw Jays prevail, Wahoos won OT thriller earlier in 2015 at Homewood Field. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#7. (randyrad) — #6 Cavs beatable this year. Dom looking old; does he have another run left? (Strannywastheman) — Really got in? (Tecumseh)

Yale: Ivy champs. (arealax) — Bulldogs are Ivy champs and a dangerous playoff squad. (Baldo) — Can an Ivy win a game this year? (Henfan) — Resilient and Ivy champs ... having a great year overall and should not be taken lightly. (jhu7276) — #9. Ivy AQ paying a visit to Terpville this week. The class of the Ivy League. (laxfan1313) — #10 Eli dominated host Brown in the second half of their Ivy semifinal. Bulldogs edged Princeton 11-10 in the Ivy final to gain AQ spot in NCAA. Eli travels to College Park for NCAA opener. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#11. (randyrad) — #9 Started slow, smoked Brown, held off Tigers, D is special. Arguable host. Will they have to play MD or Albany again? Schedule better schools - ditch Lowell, Sacred Heart. (Strannywastheman) — Ivy champs - like it should be. (Tecumseh)

Cornell: Red have been awful for a while now. Nothing to suggest that they are going to wake up and find their mojo. (Baldo) — #8. Can never figure out this team. (Henfan) — Mystery team ... which one will show up for the playoffs? (jhu7276) — #10. The Big Red hosts Albany on Schoellkopf Field where Cornell is 6-0. Cornell won in February in Texas - can they do it again on the 'kopf? (laxfan1313) — #11 Another stumbling finish to their regular season for Big Red, as they fell to Princeton 11-7 in Ivy semifinal game. Somehow Big Red garnered a home game against Albany. I like the Danes. (Lax Fidelis) — #13. Lost to Princeton. (maddog9718) — RR#8. (randyrad) — #13 Tigers outplayed Big Red decisively. Coaching has to be on the table. Should not be hosting. (Strannywastheman)

Johns Hopkins: B1G champs. (arealax) — Jays took advantage of Maryland upset to win inaugural B1G title - remains to be seen if their can cover what issues they still have. (Baldo) — #10. Let's see if they can beat anyone outside the Small Ten. (Henfan) — Perhaps the hottest team going into the NCAAs ... if they play like they did in the B1G final, they just might be dangerous enough to do some damage ... it's the "third season." Back in top 10! (jhu7276) — #12. Like a Phoenix, JHU has risen from the dead to win the B1G AQ and become a contender. First stop: Hooville. (laxfan1313) — #9 JHU took advantage of B1G tourney to win NCAA AQ slot, beating Penn State and Ohio State by 5 and 7 respectively. Best defensive effort of the season against Buckeyes. Off to UVa. (Lax Fidelis) — #9. Suddenly a scary team. (maddog9718) — RR#10. (randyrad) — #10 Held off PSU, Bucks never a threat. Hop capable of an upset. (Strannywastheman) — B10 champs - Who would have thought this a couple of weeks ago? (Tecumseh)

Brown: Bears surprise season will continue in Denver. (Baldo) — We shall see. Tough first round. (Henfan) — Only two "quality wins." (jhu7276) — #11. On any given day, Brown can beat anyone. First stop: Mile High. (laxfan1313) — #12 Home squad Bears had 6-3 lead over Yale, but the Bulldogs dominated the second half in their 10-6 Ivy semifinal win. Bruins got a very tough draw; play at Denver. Win and they get a return trip. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#14. (randyrad) — #16 Brown out quick, then Yale buried them. SOS should keep them out. (Strannywastheman) — Close enough to get in! (Tecumseh)

Colgate: Patriot champs. (arealax) — Raiders won the Patriot tournament and gave the Orange a run this week. Could surprise. (Baldo) — Looked good vs. Syracuse. (Henfan) — Lost season finale. (jhu7276) — #14. Close loss to Syracuse (9-7). The Patriot League AQ must get past the talented Tar Heels this week in Chapel Hill. (laxfan1313) — #14 Raiders made life very tough on the visiting Syracuse Orange, leading 7-6 midway through second half but never scored again in a 9-7 loss. Trip to UNC in store; Brandon Burke better be sharp. (Lax Fidelis) — #16. Close game against SU. (maddog9718) — RR#12. (randyrad) — #11 Battled Cuse, Gate playing their best at the right time. Resume just short of hosting but close. (Strannywastheman) — A very impressive season. Murphy should have been PL COY. (Tecumseh)

Ohio State: Bucks are incredibly inconsistent. Have beaten a few of the best teams and lost to a few of the worst teams. Nevertheless they are in the big dance. (Baldo) — So unpredictable. (Henfan) — THUD of the week vs. JHU in the B1G final ... completely dominated. (jhu7276) — #13. Defeated Maryland but then lost to JHU in the B1G finals. Can be dangerous. First stop: Durham. (laxfan1313) — #15 Buckeyes won low-scoring battle over home team Maryland in B1G semifinal but were shut down by Hopkins in final, losing 13-6. Surprise choice for me, Buckeyes have to play at Duke. Good luck. (Lax Fidelis) — #15. Beat UMD but dominated by JHU. (maddog9718) — RR#13. (randyrad) — #14 Unexpected big win over Terps, never in game against Hop. Capable of losing by 6 or beating whoever they play. If Myers is still coaching next year, OSU just doesn't care. (Strannywastheman) — Up and down! Strange pattern. (Tecumseh)

Princeton: Tigers surprisingly almost take the Ivy title. This bunch is a bit too inconsistent for my taste. Apparently the committee agreed and left them out of the dance. (Baldo) — Good season, but not good enough evidently. (Henfan) — Close but no cigar ... not consistent enough. (jhu7276) — #15. Defeated Cornell, then lost to Yale 11-10 giving the Bulldogs the Ivy AQ. Deserved an at-large bid. (laxfan1313) — #13 Tigers turned the tables on Cornell in Ivy semifinal, winning 11-7 this week. Hard-fought game against Yale came up 1 goal short. Currier is a beast on GBs. Odd man out of the Ivy contenders. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#16. (randyrad) — #12 Big Red no problem, Yale O too much. More Mac, less Orban, go further. Should be in. (Strannywastheman)

Georgetown: Hoyas had a nice season, which is now over. (Baldo) — Maybe next year? (Henfan) — #16. Defeated Marquette but lost to Denver. The Hoyas are on the upswing. (laxfan1313) — #17 Hoyas absorbed another large loss at the hands of Denver, losing 16-8 in the Big East final at Villanova. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#15. (randyrad) — #15 Marquette easily, but Pios in complete control. Great season, but probably bubble out. Warne has turned it around. (Strannywastheman)

Towson: CAA champs. (arealax) — Tigers won the Colonial tournament and punched their dance card ticket. Play-in game vs. High Point is next up. (Baldo) — Champs of their conference and having one of their best years ever. (jhu7276) — #17. Defeated Mass 9-8. (laxfan1313) — #19 Tigers won the CAA title by beating UMass 9-8 in the finals after beating Drexel in the semis. Tigers face 10-6 High Point in play-in game, winner gets to play Fighting Irish in South Bend. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#17. (randyrad) — #17 Over Drexel and UMass, but likely an early out. (Strannywastheman)

Marquette: Golden Eagles had a fine season before bowing out to Hoyas in the Big East tourney. Bright future in Milwaukee. (Baldo) — #18. Gave us excitement early on but faded in the stretch. Great evidence of the western growth of the sport. (laxfan1313) — #18 Golden Eagles lost by 4 to Georgetown in Big East semifinal game. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#21. (randyrad) — Very impressive season. (Tecumseh)

Marist: This team can play. (Henfan) — #25. (laxfan1313) — #20 Saints won another MAAC crown over Quinnipiac in a high-scoring final, 16-14. Marist is in play-in game against Bryant; the winner gets Syracuse in the Dome. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#18. (randyrad) — #18 Nice record. Is Rik Smits on the roster? (Strannywastheman)

Army: Army beat Loyola and Navy in the Patriot but then melted against Colgate. Surprisingly inconsistent Cadet team. (Baldo) — #22. (laxfan1313) — #21 Black Knights were overrun by the visiting Fighting Irish, 17-8. Will sanity return to USMA administration and lead them to drop the dumb marketing ploy of Army West Point slogan? (Lax Fidelis) — RR#23. (randyrad) — #22 Irish had way too much. Disappointing end. (Strannywastheman)

Stony Brook: Blown out by Pios. (jhu7276) — #21. (laxfan1313) — #16 Seawolves were demolished by Lyle Thompson in first half of AE final when he scored 5 goals; Danes rang up 14 second half goals in 22-9 rout. (Lax Fidelis) — #19 Over Vermont, then Albany ended it. Improvement. (Strannywastheman)

Loyola: Hounds season ended with an early exit in the Patriot tournament. (Baldo) — RR#24. (randyrad) — Will be back! (Tecumseh)

High Point: RR#19. (randyrad) — #25 Nice year. (Strannywastheman)

Harvard: #19. Harvard's 8 SOS and 18 RPI justify inclusion in the top 20. (laxfan1313) — RR#22. (randyrad)

Fairfield: #24. (laxfan1313) — #24 Stags eliminated from CAA playoffs on their home field in a 9-8 semifinal loss to 5 and 9 UMass. (Lax Fidelis) — #20 UMass ended Stags season. They can play great teams tough and lose to mediocre ones. (Strannywastheman)

Bucknell: #23. (laxfan1313) — #21 Bison have a lot of potential but are not consistent. Solid season. (Strannywastheman)

Bryant: Ok. (Henfan) — RR#20. (randyrad) — #24 Another spectacular coach up job by Pressler. These guys were playing like dogs early in season. Like 'em in a play-in. (Strannywastheman) — Also a dangerous team to play in May. (Tecumseh)

Richmond: Tough end for Chemotti and Co. (Henfan) — Yes, I know their SoS is 59, but I gave the Spiders #25 for their 11-5 record in 2015. (Lax Fidelis)

Navy: #20. Defeated Air Force. 19 RPI. (laxfan1313) — #22 Mids edged Air Force 9-8 in Colorado Springs to finish with a 9-5 record after two history-making seasons of ineptitude. (Lax Fidelis) — RR#25. (randyrad) — #23 Barely by Air Force. Will Sowell stay? Looks like Navy is back. (Strannywastheman)

Other Teams Pollsters Considered (and comments, if any)

. Penn:

. Saint Joseph's: #23 Perfect NEC season ruined by Bryant, who upset the home-standing Hawks 10-6 in NEC tourney final. (Lax Fidelis)
